Vicky Room

We would like to congratulate Vicky Room for reaching the final of the Bowls England National Womens Junior Singles Championship

Vicky started her campaign a few months ago when she won through the Bucks area and become the Bucks junior singles champion, this gave here qualification to represent Bucks at the national championships in Royal Leamington Spa this week.

Vicky started her first game at 9.30am on Sunday the 5th August and she was drawn against Katie Williams from Herefordshire and won 21-12, next up at 2pm was Rebecca Creswell from Dorset again Vicky won in convincing fashion 21-11.

In the last 16 clash Vicky was drawn against the currently holder and 3 time world indoor singles champion Katherine Rednall from Suffolk. The game was always going to be tough and was very close throughout but Vicky held here nerve and came out winning 21-19 to put her into the quarter final the next day.

Again up bright and early for a 9.30am start Vicky played Amica Fordy from the Northallerton club in Yorkshire, she continued her good form and won 21-11

In the semi final she was drawn against her England International team mate Ruby Hill from Lincolnshire who played in the same rink together a few weeks earlier. Vicky flew out of the blocks and raced to a 10-0 lead, she continued her dominance to lead 16-1 and 19-7 before reaching the magic 21 shots to win 21-7 and book a place in the national final.

In the final she was up against Izzie White from Chester Road BC in Worcestershire, Vicky got off to a good lead of 9-3 early on but 16 year old Izzie was not fazed and continued to play well. The standard was very high from both players but unfortunately for Vicky Izzie won 21-12.

To reach a national final is not to be underestimated as it takes a lot of hard work and determination we are all immensely proud of what Vicky has done this season and would like to wish her luck for the rest of the national championships
